Flowood board moves ahead on equipment lease and acknowledges levee summary; Kensington Phase II plat approved

At its Feb. 20 meeting Flowood's board approved a lease-purchase resolution to acquire eight Chevrolet Tahoes for the police department, signaled intent to consider TIF bonds for the Refuge Hotel project, approved the Kensington Phase II final plat and acknowledged a U.S. Army Corps levee-system summary read by the Flood Control District representative.
At the Feb. 20 meeting of the Flowood Mayor and Board of Aldermen the board approved several items affecting capital equipment and local development planning.
Consent action on Feb. 20 included approval of a resolution authorizing execution of an equipment lease-purchase agreement with BancorpSouth Equipment Finance for purchase of eight Chevrolet Tahoes for the police department. The resolution was included in the consent agenda and approved unanimously. The consent items also included a resolution stating the board's intention to issue tax-increment financing bonds not to exceed $750,000 for improvements related to the Refuge Hotel and Conference Center project; the minutes record the board determined the project eligible for TIF and that a public hearing would be conducted in connection with the TIF plan for that project.
In other business, the board approved the Final Plat for Kensington Phase II subdivision on Garry Miller’s recommendation. Garry Miller also introduced Allen Scott on behalf of the Rankin, Hinds and Pearl River Drainage and Flood Control District, who read the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Levee System Summary for the East Jackson Levee System. The board moved to acknowledge the reading and content of the summary; the motion passed unanimously.
