Flowood awards contracts for Liberty Road and Northeast water projects; approves CEI contract

The Flowood Board of Aldermen voted Feb. 21 to award two water infrastructure contracts and to approve a construction engineering and inspection (CEI) contract for the related project. Public Works Director Garry Miller presented the Mississippi Engineering Group recommendation to award Contract C (Liberty Road Water Well and Northeast Water Well) to Layne Christensen Company, Inc.; Alderman Don Flynt moved to award the contract, Alderman Kathy Smith seconded, and the board approved the motion unanimously.
The board then approved awarding Contract E (Northeast Water Tank on MS Hwy 25) to Caldwell Tanks, Inc. on a recommendation from Mississippi Engineering Group. Alderman Kirk McDaniel moved to award Contract E and Mayor Gary L. Rhoads seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Finally, the board approved a Construction Engineering and Inspection contract with Mississippi Engineering Group for the water well, distribution main and tank project. The motion to approve the CEI contract was made by Alderman Don Flynt, seconded by Alderman Kathy Smith, and approved unanimously.
The Feb. 21 consent agenda also included festival entertainment contracts previously recorded in the minutes: a $2,000 contract with Stagelite Entertainment, Inc. for Meet The Press and a $40,000 contract with My Kids Money, LLC for Chris Janson as headline entertainment on May 13, 2017; those consent items were approved by motion of Alderman Dusty Rhoads and seconded by Alderman Kathy Smith. The minutes show no opposition to the awards and approvals during the meeting.
Garry Miller and Jennifer Anderson were present for project updates and the Flowood Chamber update respectively. With no further business, Alderman Deron Harmon moved to adjourn; the board adjourned after unanimous approval.
