Board approves moving forward on bus contract for Grissom Air Show after members raise cost concerns

The Cannelton School Corporation board voted June 24 to authorize staff to move forward with contract negotiations to provide buses for the Grissom Air Show after reviewing a transportation quote.
A presenter said air-show organizers approached the district seeking transportation for patrons and requested pricing that would cover the district’s costs for using up to 10–15 buses. The presenter said the proposed compensation is intended to cover payroll, fuel and insurance.
At least one trustee raised concern that a flat contractual commitment could leave the district paying for buses it does not use if fewer vehicles are needed, noting the district should avoid bearing costs for staff paid to wait unused. The presenter replied that a formal contract is expected in the next couple of weeks and that he would share the agreement with the board when received. The board approved a motion to move forward with the transportation contract phase by voice vote.
