Longswamp supervisors approve finances, hire auditor and grant solar‑panel waiver; advertise pay increase ordinance

The Longswamp Township Board of Supervisors took several formal actions at its Nov. 11 meeting, approving routine financial reports, contracting an auditor and taking land‑use and ordinance steps.
The board unanimously approved the Oct. 28, 2025 meeting minutes and acknowledged verification of October 2025 bank reconciliations. The Treasurer’s Report for October 2025, showing General Funds of $3,120,565.27 and additional funds of $557,281.59 (total $3,677,846.86), was approved as presented. Interim disbursements of $106,826.20 and fund transfers of $16,460.63 for the Oct. 29–Nov. 11 period were approved by roll call (Mike Sacks, Mark Hilbert and Don Hickman voted yes).
On permitting, the board granted a waiver to allow solar panels at 1385 Woodside Ave.; the motion by Supervisor Mike Sacks was seconded by Vice Chair Mark Hilbert and passed unanimously.
Under new business, the board approved a request to show an 18‑acre parcel owned by Marvin W. and Debra L. Reinert as part of a Berks County agricultural preservation mapping effort that includes land in Longswamp Township.
The board moved to advertise Ordinance 305, which would increase supervisor compensation effective at the start of any new or reelected supervisor's term as permitted under the Second Class Township Code; Supervisor Mike Sacks made the motion (he noted he personally opposed the increase), Mark Hilbert seconded and the motion to advertise passed.
The board also voted to engage Long & Barrell Audit Services to audit the 2025 Tax Collector receipts for a fee of $4,750; that motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m. following a motion by Mike Sacks and second by Mark Hilbert.
