Town manager announces town accountant vacancy, water‑main progress and EPA Superfund open house

Personnel: Cah Hill said the town accountant has given 90 days' notice to depart for a position closer to home. The town manager and Select Board chair will lead the hiring process with Member Bennett assisting; staff aim to post the job this week, interview in July, and present a candidate for board consideration in early August.
Infrastructure: The manager reported the contractor finished replacing the water main on Wenham Street between Locust and Princeton; crews will begin reconnecting homes starting at the Locust Street end and work toward Princeton. Residents will be reconnected to the new main beginning tomorrow.
Environment and outreach: The EPA will host an in‑person open house at the Crease and Cook tannery Superfund site on June 9 (5:30–7:30 p.m., rain date June 10) to discuss investigation and cleanup activities; residents must register and wear closed‑toed shoes to walk on site. The manager asked staff to post EPA registration details on the town website to improve access to information.
Events and other items: The manager also noted Memorial Day activities, green‑communities webinars and Pride and Juneteenth events organized with the Human Rights & Inclusion Committee. She thanked volunteers and staff for event work and asked the board to help with the accountant hiring process.
Next steps: The town manager will post the job description, coordinate interviews and report back to the board on hiring timing; DPW will continue the water‑main reconnection and the town will publicize the EPA open house.
