The La Crescent-Hokah School Board approved the consent agenda, which included two pending teacher resignations that require district action before final release.
Superintendent Wally explained the district’s process for handling teachers who resign before fulfilling contract terms: the district must receive a penalty payment to ISD 300 and identify a suitable replacement before the teacher can be released. He told the board that in one of the two pending cases both conditions had been satisfied earlier that day, which would convert that item from “pending” to a standard resignation once paperwork is in order.
Board members discussed procedure, the union’s typical involvement and the cross-border complication from nearby Wisconsin and Iowa districts. Wally described options the district might use when another state’s district does not honor a release, including asking the Minnesota licensing authority to suspend a teacher’s Minnesota license. No suspension action was taken; the board approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
The board did not record individual yes/no votes for this consent vote in the meeting record; administration recorded the motion as passed.
