EVELETH — During public comment at the Jan. 5 Eveleth City Council meeting, resident Anna Tonsac asked the city to place survey pins on the north side of her property to resolve a fence and property-line dispute and said she would pay Benchmark $1,000 for the work.
Tonsac told the council she had previously submitted a request to purchase an alley but revised it to seek only the north side adjacent to her property. She said multiple neighbors face similar boundary questions and that previous surveys had left unresolved pins. "I will pay Benchmark $1,000 to put the pins in the ground to end the dispute," she said in her remarks.
Tonsac also announced she intends to run for city council and invited community members to support her. Council members acknowledged her request and noted they would place the matter on the agenda for a future workshop and potentially invite a surveyor or staff (a name, Tony Jeff, was mentioned in discussion) to address the issue.
The council did not take a formal vote during public comment; a councilor asked that the matter be added to the next workshop agenda for follow-up.
