The council unanimously passed Resolution 2026-97 on a motion by Council Member Klocke, seconded by Council Member Allen. The minutes record the motion carried 5-0; the meeting record does not list the dollar amount or specific terms of the abatement.
Council also approved the transfer of an alcohol license from the golf course to the Hawarden Community Center for use on March 21, 2026. That consent-agenda item was moved by Council Member Allen and seconded by Council Member Bouza; the motion carried 5-0.
Other routine business included approval of the Feb. 25, 2026 regular meeting minutes (moved by Council Member Allen, seconded by Council Member Warner; vote 5-0) and a motion to approve claims for payment for March 11, 2026 (moved by Council Member Schelling, seconded by Council Member Klocke). During the open-community portion of the meeting, a resident spoke about zoning procedures, a police report and local economic-development matters; the speaker was not identified in the meeting minutes. Mayor Larry Gregg reported no new items, and staff provided routine reports. Travis Waterman, public works director, led a continued FY27 budget work session item on the agenda; the minutes note the work session but do not record substantive proposals or decisions in the public record for this meeting.
The council adjourned at 5:42 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
