Dubois County boosts H.E.L.P. rehab allotment to $20,000 and opens bids for projects

Following a public hearing, the Dubois County Commissioners voted to increase the per-home allotment for the Hoosier Enduring Legacy Program (H.E.L.P.) Owner Occupied Rehabilitation from $15,000 to $20,000.
Jenny Matheis from Indiana 15 Regional Planning presented the proposed change and noted the City of Jasper supports the increase. No members of the public offered comment during the hearing, which was then closed. The board determined the need exists to increase the allotment and a motion to raise the per-home maximum to $20,000 was made, seconded and carried.
At 9:00 a.m. the board opened bids for the Owner Occupied Rehabilitation projects. Bids read aloud included amounts from Huntingburg Mechanical (electrical and HVAC bids at several addresses) and T&T Roofing (roofing bids at multiple addresses). Commissioners took the bids under advisement and said awards will be made at the July 21, 2025 meeting. The transcript notes the program has roughly $500,000 remaining to allocate.
No awards were announced on July 7; staff will return with recommendations at the next meeting.
