A county staff member who presented the second reading said the budget’s projected revenues and expenditures total $113,143,526. The judge told the court the budget needed final adoption this week so the county would have an approved budget in place by July.
The court began the second reading after the Department for Local Government reviewed the proposal. A motion to adopt the budget was made and seconded; the clerk recorded unanimous approval.
The adoption places the court’s operating plan in effect for the coming fiscal year and clears the way for department spending and upcoming flood mitigation projects that staff noted will generate large printing needs. The court did not discuss changes to specific department allocations during the adoption.
The court’s next procedural step is to publish or file the adopted budget consistent with DLG requirements so it is available for public inspection and county operations in July.
