City manager: Glenn Hills lift station bid set for July 16; Rock and Pillar drainage project advertised with $1.39M estimate

City staff told the council the city will open bids for two infrastructure projects in coming weeks: the Glenn Hills lift station and the Rock and Pillar Street Drainage Project.
The city manager said the Glenn Hills lift station bid opening is scheduled for July 16 and the contract will be awarded shortly after bids are opened; the project was rebid because the city spent more than a year securing an expanded easement for the current lift station site. The manager said the previous solicitation produced a single, high bidder and the city hopes more competitive bids will appear this time.
On the Rock and Pillar Street Drainage Project, staff said the advertisement will show an Aug. 4 bid opening and an Aug. 18 contract award date. The city manager gave an estimated base contract amount of $1,385,940 with two alternatives: shaping and channeling to Miller Street (about $133,710) and concrete repairs at the Miller and Greenwood Street bridge (about $209,208). Staff said additional details about the project will be provided in future meetings.
Council asked follow-up questions about the schedule and cost estimates and were told staff will provide more details as bids are received.
