Nvidia to support Braille trail at YAP with volunteers and funding, commission happy to proceed

Tim updated the commission that Nvidia offered to provide a volunteer workday plus an in-kind donation to support a Braille/sensory trail at YAP. The proposed loop is roughly three‑tenths of a mile and would include tactile guide rope, braille signage, and sensory elements for visitors with visual impairments. Nvidia estimated they could provide 20—50 volunteers for a full workday and offered an in-kind donation equivalent to approximately $200 per volunteer (up to about $10,000) to be given to the trust rather than the commission.
Commissioners asked staff to engage the Disability Committee and other accessibility stakeholders on design details to ensure the trail is implemented effectively. Staff noted volunteers cannot perform all tasks (some post drilling or deeper work will require specialists) and said they will coordinate donated materials and any contracted drilling or heavy work. The town and the trust will continue to refine final designs, cost estimates and any CPC or outside funding needs.
Commissioners expressed gratitude for corporate volunteerism and asked for final designs and cost breakdowns as plans advance.
