Palmer mayor says city denied fire‑department liquor license; asks county to repair road shoulder

Rosenboom said the City of Palmer denied a liquor-license request that the county had approved earlier for the Palmer Volunteer Firefighters, Inc./Palmer Community Boosters because the city determined the required paperwork had not been filed with the city. Rosenboom said the State (Iowa ABD) transmits license requests to the county when paperwork is filed with state authorities; the county will contact the state’s Alcoholic Beverages Division for further guidance and reach out to Dan Feistner as needed.
Rosenboom also asked the county to fill holes on a road shoulder near Palmer. Supervisor Brent Aden asked the county engineer to have crew member John inspect and fill the shoulder as needed.
The minutes record the mayor’s concerns but show no formal county action or change to the liquor‑license approval at the Nov. 19 meeting; the county indicated it will follow up with the Iowa ABD and local officials.
