Pocahontas County supervisors on Oct. 29 asked staff to seek a wired door-access quote after reviewing three proposals for courthouse cameras and door-access systems intended to be paid from ARPA funds.
IT Director Dereck Hebert presented three quotes and the board requested that the vendor who supplied a wireless door-access quote also provide a wired alternative, which the board judged would be more reliable.
The board approved several routine financial items by unanimous vote: reimbursement for assessment mailings (line-item amounts recorded in the official minutes), a $6,900 invoice to Luft & Sons, Inc. for rip-rap on DD41 Br 32 open ditch, and two manure management plans (Mefferd Site, ID#58466; Plantz Turkey Facility, ID#66930). Clarence Siepker moved to approve the Luft & Sons invoice; the motion carried.
Auditor Nita Hinrickson said she posted the maintenance/custodian position on Indeed and had received six applicants. A $3,000 FY26 funding request from Family Crisis Center was acknowledged but deferred until the board completes budget determinations.
Chairman Kyle Smith reported a precast delivery for the Law Enforcement Center had been delayed until Nov. 5; if delayed again, Sande Construction would be gone a week, which could affect scheduling.
The meeting concluded after routine business was completed and the board adjourned by unanimous vote.
