Clarkfield EDA approves signatures resolution, votes to plat industrial park while exploring county auction parcels

At its Jan. 26 meeting the Clarkfield EDA approved an administrative resolution to authorize signatures and voted to move forward with platting an industrial park as it explores available county parcels for future apartment and industrial development.

The board approved Resolution 2026-1 authorizing signatures on a motion by Lisa Tilney, seconded by Dakota Swinton. The motion carried. Later in the meeting the board voted to proceed with platting the industrial park; Lisa moved, Dakota seconded and the motion carried.

Board members discussed county land-auction parcels as potential sites for future apartments and agreed that Jon would contact the county about parcels that were up for auction. Craig Giles said he would speak with another property owner about possible sites. Jon also gave the board an update on a proposed Rural Service District ordinance, which he said could change tax rates on two properties owned by the EDA; the board noted the potential impact but did not take formal action on the ordinance.

Motions recorded at the meeting included the leadership nominations earlier in the agenda, approval of minutes and bills, approval of Resolution 2026-1, the industrial-park platting motion, and a motion to adjourn. Where movers and seconders were recorded, they were: Brenda Risa (mover) and Dakota Swinton (seconder) for approval of minutes; Brenda Risa (mover) and Jerry Kaupang (seconder) for approval of bills; Lisa Tilney (mover) and Dakota Swinton (seconder) for Resolution 2026-1; Lisa Tilney (mover) and Dakota Swinton (seconder) for the industrial-park platting motion; and Dakota Swinton (mover) and Lisa Tilney (seconder) for adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 7:09 PM.
