The council then approved the budget ordinance for the High Point Market Authority. When the Visit High Point budget came up, Mayor Pro Tem Monica Peters recused herself from that vote; after the recusal was accepted the council approved Visit High Point’s budget ordinance.
Later, during a separate and lengthier discussion of the overall city budget and the implications of NC Senate Bill 889 (a property reappraisal moratorium), the council adopted the updated city budget and directed staff to identify funding for SSA within the adopted plan. Staff and councilmembers will return with further details and an actuarial analysis to finalize SSA program design.
