Mills County supervisors approve consent items, budget resolutions and multiple personnel actions

On budget matters, the board adopted Resolution 2622 setting annual appropriations for FY2627 and Resolution 2623 allowing necessary budget transfers within the approved totals. The board also approved Resolution 2624 establishing wages and salaries for non-elected, non-union Mills County employees for FY2627 and Resolution 2621 designating official posting locations for meeting notices to comply with recent open-meeting law changes.
Personnel actions included approval to hire Angelica Estrada and Jaden Gaylord as detention officers with start dates of July 6, 2026, at starting salaries of $47,000. The board reappointed Josh England as chief deputy at 85% of the chair salary and approved multiple deputy appointments: Don Landon as deputy county attorney (motion recorded with one opposed), Shel Martin as a driver's license deputy at 85%, Andy Bradford as deputy treasurer at 85%, Jolene Esser as HR/payroll deputy at 85%, and Katie Dodge as election deputy at 83%.
Risk-management changes were approved after a presentation from an insurance representative. The board moved to increase excess liability coverage to $8 million and approved the accompanying premium adjustment discussed on the record.
The meeting closed after routine committee updates and a board discussion about planning rules for data centers and battery-storage facilities. The board adjourned at about 9:45 a.m.
