Bernalillo council approves 300-foot liquor-waiver for June Farmhouse Ale at Loretto Park

The Town of Bernalillo council voted unanimously April 22 to waive the 300-foot restriction under the Liquor Control Act so organizers can serve beer, wine and spirits at the Farmhouse Ale event on June 1, 2019 at Loretto Community Park.
Michael Kloeppel, Director of Economic and Community Development, presented the waiver request from Kaktus Brewery and the Department of Community Development. He said the requested waiver, under Chapter 223 of the Liquor Control Act (Section 60-6B-10 and Section 60-6B(G) cited in the request), would allow temporary alcohol service within 300 feet of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic, First Assembly of God Church, The Potter's House Church and PB & J Therapeutic Preschool. The breweries listed as submitting Celebration Permits were Bosque Brewing and Kaktus Brewing; Kloeppel said required permits would be submitted for the mayor’s signature after council approval.
Councilor Sisneros moved to approve the waiver; Councilor Dominguez seconded. Roll-call votes recorded Councilor Dominguez, Councilor Sisneros, Councilor Jaramillo and Councilor Prairie as voting yea.
The waiver clears a regulatory hurdle so organizers can proceed with permit filings and event logistics for the June 1 festival at Loretto Community Park.
