Comfrey council defers cannabis permitting to Brown and Cottonwood counties

At its Jan. 7 meeting the Comfrey City Council discussed new county and state cannabis guidelines and decided to leave registration, permitting and compliance oversight to Brown and Cottonwood counties. Councilor Rick Kastner moved the measure, Councilor Wayne Redman seconded it, and the motion carried without recorded opposition.
Council members noted both counties are still finalizing their ordinances and guidelines; the council said it will review additional information from the counties when available before taking any further municipal action.
No local ordinance or registration procedure was adopted at the meeting; the action was a decision to defer local oversight to the counties pending their rulemaking.
