Comfrey council swears in mayor, confirms official appointments and commissioners

At its Jan. 7 meeting the Comfrey City Council administered oaths to Mayor Gary Richter and two councilors, approved minutes and set official appointments including bank, city attorney and department commissioners.
The Comfrey City Council convened at 5:00 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Comfrey Community Center and administered the oath of office to Mayor Gary Richter and Councilors Susan Evers and Wayne Redman, City Attorney Paul Muske said. The council then approved meeting minutes from Dec. 10, 2024.
On a motion by Councilor Darlene Arnsdorf, seconded by Councilor Wayne Redman, the council confirmed official appointments: Comfrey Times as the publication, Triumph State Bank as the depository, Paul Muske as city attorney, Gary Richter as weed inspector, Steve Berberich as assistant weed inspector and Darlene Arnsdorf as acting mayor. Commissioners were designated for Water (Wayne Redman), Sewer (Darlene Arnsdorf), Streets (Rick Kastner) and Hall & Park (Susan Evers).
The appointments were adopted by council motion with no objections. The meeting proceeded to routine business and a review of financial and operational items.
