Cokato council approves $205,018 and $297,622 pay applications, advances watermain loop and GIS review

The Cokato City Council approved multiple public-works pay applications and advanced several infrastructure items at its Sept. 9 meeting.
On motions that passed unanimously, the council approved payment of $205,018.13 to Ashwill for substantial completion work on the southwest holding pond and turn lanes (motion by Council Member Wilson; second by Council Member Hermansen) and approved a separate pay application of $297,622.39 for Industrial Park turn lanes (motion by Council Member Hermansen; second by Council Member Sebring).
The council also authorized staff to proceed with a watermain loop from Omer Avenue to Pleasant Avenue NE; the motion to move forward was made by Council Member Wilson and seconded by Council Member Hermansen and carried on a unanimous vote.
Council discussed technology and equipment items: staff were asked to evaluate Bolton & Menk's GIS field data-collection tools to support maintenance and asset-management programs, and the DSG water meter antenna system was reported to be working well, with the council agreeing to hold off on further action for now.
City Administrator Brad Potter said bids for asphalt roof replacement on city structures will be reassessed for potential coverage by the League; staff (Jake, Brad and Carl) will meet to follow up. The council approved claims and cash/budget reports later in the meeting on unanimous votes.
