Cokato council approves consent agenda, accepts audit and confirms city administrator

At its July 8 meeting the Cokato City Council approved the consent agenda, accepted the 2024 audit, and confirmed Brad Potter as city administrator by resolution; routine financial reports and several public-works items were also approved. The council tabled a solar farm request and denied a conditional-use permit for a twin home at Borg Road.
The Cokato City Council met on July 8, 2024, and approved its agenda before taking up routine business, including the consent agenda and the 2024 audit.
Justin McGraw presented the audit packet and said assets had decreased; the council accepted the audit on a motion by Council Member Wilson with a second by Council Member Sebring. The consent agenda — covering the June 10 minutes, the sheriff’s report, MaKayla Gustafson’s one-year review, and resolutions placing Courtney Mattson on the Cokato Ambulance and establishing Brad Potter as city administrator — was approved unanimously.
The council also approved the city travel and training policy and elections judges for the primary and general elections. Financial claims and cash-and-budget reports were approved later in the meeting on motions by Council Member Sebring, seconded by Hermansen.
Public-works proposals including targeted sidewalk removals and a plan to pursue a grant to replace the wastewater lift-station backup generator were approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:33 p.m.; Deputy Clerk Jenni Wolff attested the minutes and Mayor Carl Harju signed them.
What’s next: The city will hold a work session on August 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., and staff will pursue grant funding for the wastewater generator and continue negotiations around the proposed watermain loop.
