Planning staff told council the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended adoption of formal text amendments after a year-long revision process. "We will have the red line document available online right with the public notice," said the staff presenter, who noted the commission held a public hearing on June 11 and considered one written comment.
Council members said the rewrite is substantial and asked that staff publish summarized materials to make the changes easier for residents to digest. Councilmember Miss Hazelbaker suggested topic-specific summaries—short-term rentals and infill were singled out as items likely to draw public interest.
The motion to set the public hearing passed 7–0. Staff committed to posting the redline, summary pages and the chronological meeting packet history online before the hearing to facilitate public review. The hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026; the council will consider public testimony and any ordinance readings at that meeting.
