Danville rec reports strong Senior Coffee and 5th-grade party; Kids Day Out canceled after low registration

At its June 17 meeting the Danville Town Recreation Committee reviewed recent programs and events, reporting both successful outcomes and an event cancellation.
Committee members said Dungeons & Dragons in May had roughly six participants and there was no June meeting for that program. The Senior Coffee was well attended with about 25 seniors; Vanessa agreed to purchase replacement K-cups because the supply had expired. The Memorial Day parade went well and provided an opportunity to hand out flyers; the ATV group rode in the parade and organizers said the vehicles “looked awesome.”
The 5th Grade Party drew strong participation: a foam party required assistance after a basement water change and the firetruck sprayed the children as part of the celebration; Mario Kart was popular. By contrast, Kids Day Out drew only three registrations and was canceled. A kindergarten celebration also occurred; Erin unlocked the doors early and police and fire attended, though the minutes did not specify exact attendance for that event. The Tail Wings event saw an estimated 40–50 attendees.
Why it matters: Attendance and program performance determine future scheduling, vendor needs and fundraising targets for the recreation program.
What’s next: The committee will continue to schedule programs (next D&D July 17; ATV ride July 18) and will monitor registration numbers to avoid future cancellations.
