Eveleth Council Accepts Two Police Resignations, Authorizes Replacement Recruitment

Later in the meeting the council accepted patrol officer Dustin Hutah’s resignation; members said Hutah is leaving for a position with the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office and that department staffing will be reduced by three officers because of recent departures. The council authorized the chief to recruit a replacement for Hutah.
Both actions were approved by voice vote. Council members expressed appreciation for each officer’s years of service and noted the department will work with the safety committee and chief to address vacancies and recruitment.
No hiring timetable was specified in the meeting record; the chief was given authority to proceed with recruitment and the city will follow standard hiring procedures.
