Council members emphasized the closure will be coordinated with public works and the police department and that proper signage will be posted.
Officials encouraged residents near the block to share feedback with city staff and noted the plan grew from input at a recent town-hall meeting. The council framed the closure as part of a broader effort to make public spaces safer and more usable for events and youth activities.
