Pleasantville scales pool hours, sets pay rates and orders safety drain covers

Mayor Michelle Dumolt told council the village cannot afford daily pool hours. Fiscal Officer Penny Marquart said hiring a manager who also serves as a lifeguard would "free up" about $800 every two weeks, and council set lifeguard pay at $12.50 per hour and a pool manager (also a lifeguard) at $14.50 per hour. Administrative Assistant Samantha McCreery was instructed to draft an ordinance reflecting those pay rates.
Maintenance Technician Casey Ash told council the village needs to replace eight VGB main drain suction covers at a quoted cost of $837.30 from Patterson Pools; he said the covers are an inspection item and must be replaced every five years and that the village had not replaced them previously. The council approved giving fourth-grade Pleasantville Elementary School graduates a free pool pass as requested by the PTO and discussed allowing Medicaid-insurance payments for memberships through Ohio Rise.
Council members did not vote on pool hours at the meeting but directed staff to form a committee to re-evaluate hours of operation and to proceed with staffing recruitment.
