Comfrey council approves shared library director role for 2025–26

The Comfrey City Council on Aug. 12 approved a request from the library board to split the library director position between Sharon Lang and Linda Roiger and to retain the current wage structure.
According to the library board, Sharon Lang wishes to begin stepping back from full duties but would remain for another school year; Linda Roiger was presented as having prior experience as a library director and able to step into the shared role. Councilor Redman moved approval; Councilor Evers seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council’s action preserves the library’s staffing continuity while allowing for a staggered transition; the approval also aligns with the city’s subsequent vote to set the library’s minimum local support for 2026 at $12,900 to maintain participation in the regional public library system.
