The Cokato City Council voted Oct. 14 to rezone property for the Cokato Solar Farm and granted a conditional-use permit (CUP) for the project, and separately approved a CUP for an applicant identified in the meeting record as Levi.
Mayor Carl Harju reported that the Planning Commission recommended approval of the solar project; council members said phase 1 cleanup is underway, phase 2 is progressing and phase 3 will participate in SunShare. Council Member Wilson moved to rezone and approve the conditional-use permit; Council Member Erickson seconded and the motions passed with an "all aye" vote.
Council also considered a separate CUP for an applicant recorded in the minutes as Levi (appearing in the record as Levi Arvu/Levi Hendrickson). Council Member Sebring asked about plumbing and hazardous-waste plans; the applicant described the planned parking layout in response. Council Member Wilson moved to approve the CUP; Erickson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
City staff noted that coordination between project phases will be required; the minutes record that a staff member Dean will work with City Administrator Brad Potter on phase coordination. No ordinance or permit numbers were provided in the meeting record.
The council approved both permitting actions as part of the regular agenda. The council did not record any formal conditions beyond the recorded discussion; any development conditions or permit documents will follow through the planning office.
