Coleraine council approves audit continuation, Blandin resolution, SEH contract and RFP for pay study

At its Jan. 26 regular meeting, the Coleraine City Council unanimously approved continuation of the CBT audit, Resolution No. 2026‑1.26 to apply to the Blandin Foundation for furniture, a contract with SEH, and authorized an RFP for a Classification and Compensation Study. A resident also raised intersection safety concerns.
The Coleraine City Council approved several routine administrative actions during its Jan. 26 meeting, voting unanimously on each item.
Consent agenda and agenda approval: Councilperson Sobtzak moved, with support from Councilperson Swanson, to approve the consent agenda, which included the Jan. 12, 2026 minutes, correspondence, public utilities claims of $23,499.13 and other claims of $12,509.58. The motion passed on a roll call with Councilpersons Sobtzak, Swanson and Wilson and Mayor Mike Antonovich voting aye. Sobtzak then moved, supported by Swanson, to approve the meeting agenda as presented; the council approved it unanimously.
Audit for CBT: Councilperson Swanson moved, with support from Councilperson Wilson, to approve and continue the audit for CBT. The motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote.
Resolution No. 2026‑1.26 (Blandin Foundation furniture application): Councilperson Sobtzak moved, supported by Councilperson Swanson, to approve Resolution No. 2026‑1.26 authorizing an application to and acceptance of funds from the Blandin Foundation to update furniture. The resolution passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
SEH contract for services: Councilperson Swanson moved, supported by Councilperson Wilson, to approve a contract with SEH for services; the motion carried unanimously.
Classification and Compensation Study RFP: Councilperson Swanson, with support from Mayor Mike Antonovich, moved to authorize Clerk‑Treasurer Briana Anderson to send out a Request for Proposals for a Classification and Compensation Study; the council approved the authorization unanimously.
Public comment and unfinished business: During public comment, resident Aaron Smestad raised safety concerns about drivers running the four‑way stop at the intersection of Congdon and McLean and said he had not seen enforcement activity despite contacting the police department last fall. In unfinished business, Clerk‑Treasurer Anderson said a joint meeting with Bovey to discuss a tanker for the Trout Lake Fire Department is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Emergency Services building; Chris Ismil of the IRRRB will be asked to attend.
The council adjourned at 4:57 p.m.
