The East Hampton Town Council authorized the town manager to accept a $40,000 local cybersecurity grant from the state and to execute related grant documents, authorizing a $10,000 local match to be transferred to a special revenue fund.
Finance Director Jeff Gilchrist told the council the grant will fund penetration testing and other vulnerability assessments of the town’s network. He said the town applied about a year ago and recently received notice of the award. The town must provide a $10,000 match; the council authorized the town manager to sign the award documents and to transfer the match to a special revenue fund for separate accounting and reporting. The town manager said the match will be incorporated into the end-of-year budget transfers when closing the books, likely around October.
A council member moved to accept the grant, authorize execution of documents, and allocate the match funds; the motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote.
