The Dubois County Council on May 19 approved several funding and program items: creation of a local NAMI grant fund to send a Sheriff Deputy Social Worker to CIT International training, approval of a Community Transition Program appropriation for CaseBase software and equipment, and consensus to advertise an additional appropriation for a 911 generator monitor panel.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton requested creation of a $4,000 NAMI grant fund to cover conference registration, travel, hotel, baggage and transportation expenses for Sheriff Deputy Social Worker Emily Haas to attend the CIT International Conference in Anaheim; any remaining funds may be used to support Crisis Intervention Team training in Dubois County. Meredith I. Voegerl moved to create the fund; Deena J. Lewis seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. The fund must be expended by Dec. 31, 2025.
Morton also requested a $15,000 appropriation from the Community Transition Program Fund for CaseBase software and equipment. The commissioners had approved a 2025 trial at $1,000 per month and indicated the monthly cost could rise to $3,500 in 2026 if the program continues. Ryan Craig moved to approve the request; Alex P. Hohl seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
911 Director Stuart Wison presented a $5,215 quote from Weyer Electric for a live-monitoring panel for the Security Center generator. The County Commissioners had approved the quote pending funding; the council reached consensus to advertise an additional appropriation of $5,500 from the LIT-CR tax to fund the purchase.
The transcript records no recorded opposition. The council’s approvals and advertisement are administrative; implementation depends on budgets and any required appropriation processes.
