Thompson board approves planning contract, sewer construction awards and broad budget adjustments

Supervisor Scott S. Mace presided over the Town of Thompson Board’s March 17 regular meeting, where members approved a suite of administrative, planning and infrastructure actions and adopted budget transfers to align last year’s accounts.

The most substantive actions included awarding planning services for the town’s Comprehensive Plan and accepting low bids for major sewer work. The board accepted MUD Workshop’s proposal for Comprehensive Plan planning services for up to $60,000 and approved LaBerge Group as the planner for the Monticello Motor Club project. For sewer infrastructure, the board accepted MHE Engineering’s recommendation to award the general construction contract for the Harris Sewer District pump station and force main replacement to Boyce Excavating Co., Inc. for $2,102,435.56 and awarded the electrical contract to TAM Enterprises, Inc. for $480,204.00.

The board also authorized advertising for bids for the Kiamesha Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade with a bid opening set for April 9, 2026, and discussed an update to the town Sewer Use Ordinance after the DEC requested revisions.

Routine and administrative approvals included authorizing participation in a county clean-up voucher program (up to 384 vouchers, April 15–May 15, 2026), approving a construction phase services agreement with MHE Engineering for the Fraser Resorts project (not to exceed $181,556), hiring Angela Ruggeri as a part-time assessor clerk at $33.71/hour (not to exceed 20 hours weekly), and authorizing submission of a New York State Archives scanning grant application.
