Britt planning panel sets Aug. 27 public hearing on vacating part of 7th Street SE

The committee set the hearing on a motion by committee member Dan Smith, seconded by committee member Charles Wyatt. Deputy Clerk Marcy Mayland recorded a roll call vote showing ayes from Abby Goodenow, Ron Abele, Dan Smith, Charles Wyatt and Craig Leerar. The motion directs the committee to make a recommendation to the Britt City Council following the public hearing.
Earlier in the meeting, the committee approved the agenda on a motion by Charles Wyatt, seconded by Dan Smith; that motion carried unanimously. The meeting concluded after the public-hearing motion when committee member Abby Goodenow moved to adjourn, seconded by Charles Wyatt; that motion also carried unanimously.
The public hearing will be held at 5 p.m. on Aug. 27, 2024, in the Britt Council Chambers, 170 Main Avenue S, Britt, Iowa. At that hearing the committee will take public comment and prepare its recommendation to the City Council on vacating the identified portion of 7th Street SE to permit commercial development.
