At a March 27 public hearing at Boxholm City Hall, the Boxholm City Council voted to lower the insurance portion of the proposed tax levy to $2,707, reducing the overall levy from the initially proposed 9.27572% to 8.42332%. Council member Victoria Helling moved the change; Robyn Dodson seconded the motion, and the council voted in favor (Helling, Paul Frazier, Brandon Wendt and Dodson).
The adjustment was made during a statutory public hearing on the proposed levy. Mayor Sue Shreve presided over the hearing and the council set a budget hearing for April 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall to finalize budget and levy decisions.
Council members framed the change as a reduction to the insurance portion of the levy; the meeting record documents the insurance line at $2,707 after the vote. No council members recorded opposition at the hearing. The hearing was adjourned following the motion.
The council’s action reduces the proposed mill/levy rate by the percentage points noted in the record; the budget hearing on April 10 will be the next formal opportunity for final adoption of the levy and related budget documents.
