Police Chief Chris Stoyell briefed the council on a narcotics stop and subsequent warrant execution following a suspicious-vehicle call near the Dunkin' Donuts area.
Stoyell said officers recovered suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, a vial of white powder suspected to be fentanyl, 1,224 fentanyl pills, approximately 120.35 Xanax pills, 13 other benzodiazepine pills and U.S. currency. He said some substances were field-tested and others would be sent to a lab for confirmation. The chief said officers sealed the vehicle pending a search warrant and later executed the warrant.
Mayor Torres reiterated the quantities for the record and thanked officers for proactive policing. Stoyell said evidence-handling procedures include district orders and incineration of pills once court orders are processed.
