Britt council allocates $5,000 for golf course repairs; operator says lease will not be renewed

The Britt City Council on Aug. 6 approved a $5,000 addition to the city budget to assist the Golf Course Board with capital equipment repairs and authorized work on golf course buildings.
Council Member Jefry Moore moved and Curt Gast seconded a motion to update the lease agreement to include $5,000 in city budget assistance for equipment repairs; the motion passed unanimously. The council also approved a $5,300 quote from contractor Matt Vaske to paint and install the remaining golf shed doors (motion by Ashley Weiss, seconded by Todd Hildman).
During the discussion, Vaske told the council that he and Angie Hinton, the Golf Course Board president, would fulfill obligations for the remainder of the events this year but would not be renewing the lease. The council did not take further action on lease terms beyond the budget allocation and the approved shed work.
The approvals are intended to maintain course operations for the coming season; the council will need to consider longer-term lease or management arrangements when the board’s operators step away.
