West Branch approves Impact7G invoice as Wapsi Creek widening nears bid stage

The West Branch City Council on March 18 approved invoice #33548, a payment of $807.50 to Impact7G Inc. for work on the Wapsi Creek Widening project, which is sponsored by a State Revolving Fund (SRF) program. Administrator Adam Kofoed said the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has given the project about 90% approval and the city engineer expects the project to go to bid within roughly 30 days. Council approved the invoice on a motion by Jerry Sexton, second by Mike Horihan; all members present voted in favor.
Mayor Roger Laughlin observed that several trees in the project area are beginning to be removed. Kofoed framed the invoice as part of ongoing pre-bid engineering and permitting costs tied to SRF funding. Separately, Laughlin reported that subcontractor teams inspected properties along South 2nd Street for the Phase 2 Eastside Water Main Improvement Project to photograph and document existing foundation conditions before boring begins; Kofoed said those inspections are a requirement of SRF funding for that project.
The approvals keep both projects on a near-term timetable: the Wapsi Creek project moving toward bidding and the Eastside water main advancing through required pre-construction documentation. The minutes do not record estimated bid dates, contract award timelines or total project costs beyond the invoice approved at the meeting.
