Councilperson Jenn Domzalski moved and Councilperson Gary Vojtush seconded a motion to accept a quote from Campo Roofing, Inc. for the Smith Park pavilion roof in the amount of $24,995; the motion passed on a roll-call vote (Czerr-yes; Noack-yes; Vojtush-yes; Domzalski-yes).
After the approval, Councilmember Gary Vojtush said he had learned of an idea to add a fireplace to the Smith Park pavilion from Jenn Domzalski and expressed support, saying a fireplace would allow more off-season use. Councilmembers Renell Noack and Keith Czerr questioned safety, specifically whether a fire could be left unattended. Vojtush argued that with a metal roof and a chimney taller than the roof, it would not be a danger. No formal motion or appropriation for a fireplace was recorded; the discussion was conceptual.
The approved roof contract will proceed with Campo Roofing, and any future proposal for a pavilion fireplace would require further review and explicit council action.
