The Village of Northfield Council unanimously adopted five emergency resolutions on Oct. 27 confirming the appointments of five part-time firefighter/paramedics and Fire Chief Jason Buss swore them into office.
Fire Chief Jason Buss introduced the candidates and asked each to state why they wanted to join the village department. Council suspended the three-reading rule by motion of Councilperson Gary Vojtush, seconded by Councilperson Renell Noack, and then voted to adopt Resolutions 2021-40 through 2021-44 in a single action. The roll-call votes were recorded as all ayes on adoption.
The appointees confirmed and sworn in were Keith Faron, Brian Fielding, Jayson Flask, Antonio Fortson and Briana Truett. Chief Buss welcomed the new members to the department following the swearing-in.
The appointments were handled together at Council's request to accommodate the appointees' family and friends in the audience; Council President Jenn Domzalski presided in the mayor's absence. No additional conditions or contingencies for the appointments were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council did not take separate roll-call votes on each resolution; the motion to adopt all five passed unanimously.
