Council amends demolition deadlines for several properties, schedules combination hearings

At its June 22 meeting the Community Development and Planning Committee approved multiple amendments to existing combination orders that extend deadlines for demolition or removal of residential and accessory structures.
The committee amended the order for the residential structure at 5807 Highway 56, moving the completion deadline from May 28, 2026, to Aug. 3, 2026. The motion was moved by Miss Chauvin and seconded by Mr. Babin and passed by voice vote.
The committee also rescinded the combination order for the residence at 206 GO Avenue (owner: Steven Paul Lebuff) and approved amended deadlines for other properties: 217 Jean Ellen Avenue (deadline changed to July 6, 2026) and 305 Johnson Ridge Lane (deadline moved to July 28, 2026). These motions were moved, seconded and carried with the votes recorded on the floor.
Separately, the committee approved a resolution calling combination hearings on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. for a list of residential and commercial addresses across the parish. The hearing list includes multiple addresses in Chauvin and surrounding communities; the resolution was moved by Miss Chauvin and passed by the committee.
The committee completed this block of business with votes on each procedural item; members raised no substantive challenges during the motions, and the items were advanced in order.
