Committee hears benchmarking report and Grade 6 English Learner pilot update

Curriculum and wellness staff presented the district’s Spring 2026 benchmarking results and a Grade 6 English Learner pilot update at the April 13 meeting.
Betsy Grams (Wellness Curriculum Specialist), Lauren Egizio (Humanities Curriculum Coordinator) and Karen Wolfson (Math Curriculum Coordinator) reviewed assessment findings and intervention approaches. Committee members pressed on DIBELS and DESSA results, timing and frequency of check-ins for cohorts not meeting standards, how the Bridges curriculum affects assessment outcomes, interventions available between grade levels, and the availability of data disaggregated by cultural and minority groups.
Lauren Egizio also presented the Grade 6 EL pilot’s rationale, goals, outcomes and recommended next steps. Questions from the Committee included plans to expand a non-digital literacy unit, how the blended/hybrid curriculum will be evaluated, teaching materials, accessibility considerations and timing for broader Grade 6 curriculum implementation.
Staff indicated they will continue to monitor assessment results and adjust tiered supports and interventions as needed; the packet included the Spring 2026 Benchmark Presentation and the Grade 6 EL Pilot Update.
