Sudbury School Committee: votes at a glance — School Choice declined; nurses’ contract ratified; multiple policies approved

School Choice: Vice Chair Jessica McCready opened the School Choice public hearing, and after no public questions the Committee voted 5-0 to close the hearing and then unanimously voted to decline participation in the School Choice Program for 2026–2027, affirming School Committee Policy JFBB-1.
Nurses’ contract: The Committee accepted and approved the memorandum of agreement between the Sudbury School Committee and the Sudbury Nurses Association (signed March 12, 2026) by a 5-0 roll-call vote. The Committee also voted 5-0 to authorize the Chair, in collaboration with the Superintendent, to draft and issue a press release to the community about the ratification.
Surveys and consent calendar: The Committee approved the consent calendar with the exception of the Parent Advisory Council annual review survey; after discussion it approved sending the survey to the SEPAC and the LGBTQ+ PAC (vote 4-1; Member Nicole Burnard voted no).
Policies and training: The Committee voted 5-0 to adopt policy IJNDG as presented and voted 5-0 to request training from district counsel on attorney-client privilege and handling privileged communications after changes to records-request procedures following a data-breach matter.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:47 p.m. following a 5-0 roll-call vote.
