Sudbury community praises Superintendent Crozier, urges greater transparency as he plans to leave

Vice Chair Jessica McCready opened the Sudbury School Committee meeting on April 13, 2026, and noted Superintendent Brad Crozier will leave the district at the end of the school year.

During public comment, several community members and school leaders praised Crozier. Susan Woods, principal of Nixon Elementary School, thanked him for "his leadership, integrity, focus and vision." Sara Harvey, principal of Loring Elementary, said Crozier’s departure is a loss to the district. Multiple residents—Len Simon, Mary Ahmad, Dana Roth and David Simon—also offered thanks and expressed varying concerns about the district’s future.

Several commenters raised concerns about committee transparency and responsiveness. Dana Roth urged the Committee for "transparency, accountability and leadership" and said she was concerned about a lack of response to emails. Dr. Stephen Vander Els echoed worries about "lack of transparency, process and accountability" within the Committee.

Separately, the Committee moved to shorten individual public comment time from three minutes to two minutes to allow more speakers; Betsy Sues made the motion, Nicole Burnard seconded, and the roll-call vote was 4-0 in favor.

The meeting record shows repeated public appreciation for Crozier alongside community calls for clearer communication and responsiveness from the Committee. No formal personnel actions were taken at this meeting regarding the superintendent's departure.
