ISU parking study presented; council tables indoor sports facility and IDOT invoice for further review

Professor Rob Pfaff of Iowa State University presented a parking study that included six site visits, GIS mapping, parking counts and community engagement; he will circulate a survey link and deliver a final report by mid-July. Council took no formal action on the study.
Councilmember Derek Ingle moved to table a request from Kyle Edwards of Assured Partners seeking financial assistance to construct an indoor sports facility in Monroe until the June 25 special meeting, allowing review of the FY2026 budget, capital improvement plan (CIP) and a public input survey. The motion passed unanimously.
Phil Holland moved to table consideration of an IDOT invoice for $59,156.42 related to the E 2nd Street project to the June 25 meeting to permit review of prior documentation; that motion also passed unanimously.
Other planning and design items were addressed at the meeting: consideration of MSA design for tennis court reconstruction was tabled to July 9; the council approved Phase 3 park landscaping and lighting design work and adopted MSA’s water and wastewater prioritization summary.
