Residents call for road repairs, cemetery respect and help with water bills during public comment

Several Prairie City residents used the public-comment portion of the June 11 meeting to press the council on local quality-of-life issues.
Janet Wink of 404 N Park St asked that the intersection at W 6th and N West Street be added to the city repair list, said she was concerned that flowers on headstones at the cemetery had been removed while others were left intact, and requested that police avoid parking inside the cemetery. She said, "Road at W 6th and N West Street has deteriorated please put it on repair list," and that she felt "disrespected by police car parking in cemetery please have them park elsewhere."
Kitty Hartson of 500 E Plainsman Rd said water bills are still not under control and asked the council to act; she also asked the city to address truck jake brakes entering town and to enforce rules about golf carts operating on highways and trails. Don Williams of 606 N Orchard raised concerns that tree debris had been left behind by the contractor on the recent water main project.
Council members did not take immediate action during public comment but the issues were raised to the attention of staff and will be part of follow-up for Public Works and Police.
