Prairie City’s City Council voted unanimously June 11 to approve a large consent agenda covering financials, permits, contractor invoices and personnel actions, and adopted Ordinance #409 to install a dead-end street sign at N East Street and E Jefferson Street.
The council, meeting at City Hall and on Zoom, approved Resolution 6-11-25-1, several committee minutes and MSA invoices, and accepted the resignation of the city administrator, directing city staff to post the position. Deb Townsend moved to approve Ordinance #409, waiving second and third readings so it becomes effective upon publication.
Council also approved vendor payments and project items that include payment offers and equipment quotes. The council accepted Accurate Commercial’s offer to contribute $4,016.50 toward repairs from a Family Life Center sewer break and approved the purchase and equipping of a new police vehicle package totaling $79,666.30 (Karl Chevrolet, Schneider Graphics and Racom). A Headworks control panel at the wastewater treatment plant was approved from Electric Pump for $8,050.
The meeting included several design and planning decisions: the council authorized Phase 3 landscaping and lighting concept drawings with design specifics and adopted MSA’s Water Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plants Prioritization Summary. Two items were tabled for later review: consideration of an MSA contract for tennis court reconstruction design and an IDOT invoice related to the E 2nd Street project.
Votes at a glance: the consent agenda, Ordinance #409, the Accurate Commercial cost-sharing offer, the EMS/Fire certificate of occupancy acceptance, police vehicle purchase, Phase 3 design authorization, MSA prioritization adoption and the Headworks control panel purchase all passed unanimously.
