District update: SAIL transition program seeks to expand community employment opportunities

The presentation described partnerships with the county’s DD (developmental disabilities) services, Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce to build work‑based learning placements.
Board members asked whether clients live at the SAIL facility and Dana clarified the program is day‑based: “They don't live there,” she said, noting classrooms, a kitchen and dining spaces are part of the site. Members also asked about coordination with county DD services; Dana said the district is rebuilding those connections after COVID disruptions.
The board did not take formal action; members thanked staff and discussed increased outreach to eligible families.
