During review of proposed winter operations for Town Beach, residents urged the Board of Selectmen to keep winter access available for ice fishing and to provide clearer signage.
Resident Nate Sweeney said he opposed closing the beach in winter and suggested the town designate a regularly plowed parking area with signage for vehicle and structure use. Resident Bill Rohr asked for signs indicating that property tied or chained to trees would be confiscated by the town; the Board noted the draft regulations already prohibit chaining property to trees.
After discussion, the Board reached consensus to incorporate suggestions from NH Fish & Game, to omit the recommendations made by the Recreation Commission, and to schedule a public hearing on the revised winter beach regulations for June 24, 2026. The hearing will allow further public input before any final rule adoption.
