Selectmen approve Teamsters amendment and direct Primex refund to general fund; deny sewer abatement

At its June 10 meeting the Town of Gilford Board of Selectmen approved several administrative and financial items.
Selectman Gus Benavides moved, and Selectman Richard Grenier seconded, to approve and sign Amendment #1 to the collective bargaining agreement with the Teamsters; the motion passed unanimously 3-0. The Board also voted to request a refund check from Primex for workers' compensation and unemployment insurance in the amount of $15,409 and direct it be deposited into the general fund as a means of reducing taxes; that motion likewise passed 3-0.
Other unanimous actions on the consent or new-business agenda included approval of the Return of Street Name Assignment for Hope Way and the denial of a sewer abatement request for 20 Varney Point Right. Several consent-agenda items recorded payroll and accounts-payable manifests, quitclaim deeds, oaths of office and status-change forms.
Town staff noted auction proceeds of $467,467 related to a recent sale; the town may retain $370,947 with the balance to be handled through a court interpleader procedure.
